The Eric Wright Learning Foundation is part of the Eric Wright Charitable Trust. Since 2005, it has helped over 3,850 learners from the age of 14 achieve vocational qualifications and commence careers in the construction industry.
In 2015, we partnered with Preston’s College, creating a ‘real work environment’ on campus for students from age 14+. Designed and built by Eric Wright Construction, the indoor construction site is a real work environment and features semi-built houses which students complete with brickwork, joinery, plumbing, electrical installation, plastering, decorating and professional construction. We have provided authentic welfare cabins and personal protective equipment. To create a realistic work experience, our safety, quality and environmental teams visit site to carry out inspections exactly as they would on an operational site.
There are currently approximately 1,500 students enrolled with the Foundation. 14-16 year old students attend one afternoon a week for two years to complete a construction related qualification. Courses for older students who have left secondary education can be found within our courses page.
The Foundation is part of the Eric Wright commitment to enabling young people to achieve their potential and to follow construction careers. Several learners have already continued into employment with the Eric Wright Group and our supply chain.
Each year the Eric Wright Learning Foundation, in partnership with Preston’s College, hold an awards evening to celebrate the success of the students over the previous 12 months.
